Refining the
Literary Landscape
of South Korea.
Xatofiz Book Club was founded in Seoul to bridge the gap between casual reading and rigorous intellectual inquiry. We provide a structured environment for readers who seek depth over volume.

Rigorous Curatorial Filtering
Selection at Xatofiz is not a matter of popularity. Our committee evaluates over 400 titles annually, filtering for linguistic merit, philosophical weight, and historical relevance. We discard the ephemeral in favor of books that demand revisit and reflection.
Localized Intellectual Discourse
While our selections are global, our perspective is rooted in the Seoul book community. We translate complex international movements into meaningful local discussions, ensuring our members are equipped to lead cultural conversations in South Korea and beyond.
Contemporary philosophy and global fiction translated for a Korean context.
Bi-weekly digital symposia guided by published critics and academics.
Born in Jongno-gu
Xatofiz Book Club emerged from a series of private gatherings in a small studio in Jongno-gu, Seoul. What began as an informal exchange of ideas among five scholars has evolved into South Korea’s most exclusive digital forum for literary curation.
Our philosophy is centered on the belief that a book is not a finished product, but the beginning of a process. Our mission is to elevate local literary culture by fostering a high-density environment where every contributing voice is informed, deliberate, and valued.
We do not strive for the largest membership, but for the most engaged. By maintaining strict entry requirements, we preserve the integrity of the Xatofiz philosophy: that quality requires time, and intellect requires a community of peers.

Membership applications open quarterly. We review each candidate based on their background in literary engagement and their commitment to our critical standards.
